Hosting & Maintenance

Hosting is invisible until the morning it is not. The cheapest plan and the most expensive one look identical while everything works; the difference only shows up when a certificate lapses, an update breaks a page, or you need yesterday back.

The short version

We put the site on hosting sized for the traffic it actually gets, keep the software patched, take backups off the server, and watch it so we find out before you do. The account stays in your name, so you are never locked in.

Is this the right fit?

Right if your site is slow, has been hacked before, or nobody can say when it was last backed up. Not the right fit if you need a dedicated server tuned for heavy custom load — that is a specialist job and we will say so.

How this actually runs

Three stages, in this order, every time — so you always know what is happening now and what comes next.

01

Getting you on

Most of the risk in hosting is the day you move. We copy everything, test it on a hidden address, and only then point the domain.

  • Full copy of files, database and email routing
  • Tested on a staging URL before anything changes
  • DNS cut over at a quiet hour
  • Old host left running until the new one is proven
02

Keeping it up

The boring work that stops emergencies: patches, certificates and backups, done on a schedule rather than once something has already gone wrong.

  • Scheduled updates, applied to staging first
  • Off-server backups on a fixed rotation
  • Certificate renewal handled automatically
  • Monitoring that alerts us on failure
03

When something breaks

You get a person, not a ticket queue. And because the backups are tested, rolling back is a decision rather than a gamble.

  • One number to call, answered in working hours
  • Restores from a known-good backup
  • A written note of what failed and why
  • No charge for fixing something we caused

What’s included

Everything below is part of the work, not a line item added later.

01Hosting selected and configured for the traffic the site actually gets
02Migration from your current host with no downtime at the switch
03SSL certificate installed and renewed automatically
04Backups taken off the server, with restores tested rather than assumed
05Updates applied on a schedule, to a staging copy before the live site
06Uptime and speed monitoring that alerts us, not just you

What you receive at the end

Concrete things, handed over to you — not a login to something we control.

The site running on hosting sized for its traffic
Backups you can restore from, proven by an actual test restore
Documented access to the hosting, domain and DNS, in your name
A monthly note of updates applied and anything that needed attention

Questions about Hosting & Maintenance

Do we have to host with you to work with you?
No. We build sites for businesses that host elsewhere, and we host sites we did not build. They are separate decisions.
Whose name is the hosting account in?
Yours. We manage it, but the account, the domain and the billing stay with you, so you can move it elsewhere without asking our permission.
What happens if the site goes down?
Monitoring alerts us, so in most cases we are already working on it before you notice. If the fault is ours to fix, fixing it is not billable.
